Post Summit Field Visit
An exciting visit to COVE NEW AGE FARM
Cove New Age Farm is one of the few vertical farming initiatives in South Africa. The business currently has 625 vertical towers that have 20,000 plants in a 1,000 square meter area. The farm has created employment for 12 people to assist with daily activities. It is the only project in KwaZulu-Natal that is doing vertical farming at that scale. This project will showcase some key aspects of vertical farming as well as how this methodology can be effectively applied to curb excessive water usage in farming, to make use of alternative energy, and to proactively utilise limited space to produce food.
